Damrong Wiwatwongwana graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. (MD, 1998). He completed his ophthalmology residency training at Chiang Mai University where he was granted a scholarship for glaucoma fellowship training at the University of British Columbia. (clinical 2008) He also completed a fellowship in Oculoplastics and orbital surgery at the University of British Columbia. (clinical 2007).

He is now serving as assistant Professor of the Glaucoma Service and Chief of Oculoplastics and Orbital Surgery Service, Department of Ophthalmology, Chiang Mai University. (2005 – present) His special interests include MIGS, prostaglandins associated periorbitopathy (PAPS), glaucoma related to orbital disorders and thyroid eye diseases.
