Dr Carmen Abesamis-Dichoso is a practising optometrist and an educator in the Philippines. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, the British Contact Lens Association, the International Association of Contact Lens Educators, and the Philippine College of Optometrists. She is a recipient of the Outstanding Optometrist award from the Optometric Association of the Philippines in 2017.
She has served on the Board of Directors of the World Council of Optometry for the Legislation, Regulations, and Standards Committee and at the Asia Pacific Council of Optometry. She was also a member of the Technical Committee in Optometry under the Commission on Higher Education in the Philippines and currently chairs the Education Committee of the Professional ODs Society in the Philippines.
Her focus and passion lie in myopia management, in which she has delivered lectures internationally. She specialises in fitting contact lenses for irregular corneas.
Dr Dichoso is currently the Clinical Director of the Special Olympics Opening Eyes in the Asia Pacific Region of Special Olympics International, an organisation dedicated to providing year-round sports opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
