Dr Chan is a Senior Consultant in the Medical Retina Department at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), having been with the Centre since 2000.

She has a special interest in inherited retinal and macula dystrophies, having done her overseas fellowship on this at Moorfields Eye Hospital in the UK. She set up the IRD clinic and introduced genetic counselling to SNEC, and has collaborated with regional and international ophthalmologists to enhance management of IRD patients and education to other ophthalmologists.

Besides her clinical practice, Dr Chan is also Clinical Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and has been on faculty since 1st August 2013, teaching junior doctors and undergraduate medical students from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and postgraduate Duke-NUS medical students.

Dr Chan is regionally and internationally recognised, having been invited to speak at and chair sessions at international and regional ophthalmology meetings.

She is the current Clinical Director of the Visual Electrodiagnostics Service, Singapore National Eye Centre. She is the immediate past President of the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) and Chairperson of the Client Services Subcommittee. On an international level, she is a Board Member of the East Asian Inherited Retinal Disease Society and is the society’s National Leader representing Singapore.
