Dr. Haizul Ikhwan Murat, M.D. (UKM), Doctor of Ophthalmology (UKM), is the Head of Ophthalmology at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Temerloh, Pahang, Malaysia
He has been actively involved in the Ministry of Health (MOH) Cataract Carnival since 10 years ago, providing a mass cataract surgery to underserved communities. A member of the Asia Pacific Ocular Trauma Society (APOTS), he has also been invited to speak at several international conferences. He is the principal investigator of the Malaysia Ocular Trauma Registry (MOTR), which studies the clinical characteristics and visual outcomes of ocular trauma patients in MOH facilities.
He co-authored the Surgical Site Infection (SSI) Prevention and Surveillance Guideline, a national reference for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of SSI.
He also serves as Chairman of Ophthalmology Paramedics Training and Credentialing, coordinator for the Medical Specialist Pre-Entrance Examination and a member of the National Intraocular Lens Bank and the Prevention of Blindness Committee.
