Roland Ling read Medicine at Oxford University and qualified in 1994. He started his career in Ophthalmology in 1996.
In 2003, after completing the Retinal Fellowship in Toronto, he returned to England and was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in Exeter. Mr Ling performs Cataract surgery to a high standard using the latest small incisional technique and Intraocular Lens Technology.
He also specialises in Medical Retina. He was the first Retinal Specialist in the South West Peninsula to introduce anti-VEGF in 2006. As a Vitreoretinal Specialist, he was the first surgeon in the South West Peninsula to transition to the 23-Gauge vitrectomy. The audited result of his Retinal surgery is consistently above National Standards.
In 2015, Mr Ling sets up The Medical Eye Clinic, the first private clinic to be recognised as the Zeiss Reference Centre in the UK. He is a keen amateur violinist.
