Dr Yuen is an ASEAN Scholar and graduate of the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he is Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology.
He is also Senior Consultant at the National University Hospital (NUH) and Director of Undergraduate Education at NUS Ophthalmology. He sub-specialises in vitreoretinal surgery, uveitis and complex cataracts, with expertise in challenging cases such as uveitic retina detachments and lens subluxation.
His retinal practice includes advanced 27G vitrectomy and scleral buckling, developed during fellowship training in Australia.
In 2025, he became the first surgeon in Singapore and Southeast Asia to perform port delivery platform implant surgeries for macular degeneration, and gained early hands-on experience with intravitreal Vamikibart through the SANDCAT trial. Dedicated to teaching, Dr Yuen contributes actively to undergraduate and residency training, serves as an examiner and admissions interviewer, and conducts primary eye care courses for primary care physicians. He speaks English, Mandarin and Malay.
