Professor of Ophthalmology, Universiti Malaya

Professor Dr. Tengku Ain Kamalden is a vitreoretinal surgeon and Professor of Ophthalmology at Universiti Malaya, where she serves as Head of the Department of Ophthalmology.

A Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Johns Hopkins, she holds a DPhil from Oxford University and is a recipient several research grants including of the Alcon Research Institute Young Investigator Award and Bayer’s Global Ophthalmology Award.

Her research interests include translational eye research specifically, biomarkers for diabetic retinopathy and other ocular diseases, inherited retinal diseases and ocular trauma.

She plays an active role in postgraduate training and is a life member of the Asia Pacific Ophthalmic Trauma Society (APOTS).
