About BOS

The Brunei Ophthalmology Society (BOS) was established in April 2019 in response to the need for a unified, registered body to represent ophthalmic care providers, allied health professionals, and both governmental and non-governmental organizations involved in eye care.  The society is a strong advocate for ensuring universal access to quality vision care and treatment for all individuals in Brunei Darussalam.

BOS operates under the motto: “Innovate, Advocate, Collaborate, Educate.”

• Innovate – To stay at the forefront of ophthalmology and vision science by integrating the latest advancements and evidence-based practices into patient care.
• Advocate – To champion the prevention and treatment of visual impairment, ensuring that patients receive optimal access to care.
• Collaborate – To work closely with national and international organizations, fostering partnerships to enhance ophthalmic practice in Brunei Darussalam.
• Educate – To provide ophthalmic education for the professional community, including ophthalmologists, allied health professionals, nurses, and the general public.

Through these guiding principles, BOS is committed to advancing eye care in Brunei and improving vision health for all.

A Milestone Event: The 7th ASEAN Ophthalmology Congress

This year marks a significant milestone for BOS as it hosts the 7th ASEAN Ophthalmology Congress (AOC) in November 2025. This prestigious event will bring together ophthalmologists, ophthalmic allied health professionals and industry experts from across the ASEAN region to exchange knowledge, discuss advancements in ophthalmic care, and strengthen regional collaboration.

Hosting this year’s underscores Brunei Darussalam’s growing role in regional ophthalmology and reflects our society’s commitment to advancing eye care standards.

By bringing this international conference to Brunei, we will not only be elevating the local ophthalmology community but also reinforcing our dedication to driving progress, advocating for better vision care, and shaping the future of ophthalmology in the region.
